Five Floridians Named to the Southeast Florida Chapter Board of Directors

The Alzheimer’s Association today announced the appointment of five Southeast Florida residents to its Board of Directors, strengthening the organization’s leadership with individuals who bring both professional expertise and a deep commitment to the Alzheimer’s and dementia community.

The newly appointed board members include Chelsey Matheson, Ren Mullinix, Sam Muminov, Elena Newman and Dr. Naushira Pandya. Each shares a strong commitment to advancing the Association’s mission to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research, while enhancing care and support for all affected.

Chelsey Matheson

Matheson is director of university communications at Florida Atlantic University, where she leads marketing and media relations for FAU’s Stiles-Nicholson Brain Institute, Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute and John D. MacArthur Campus. She previously spent seven years as marketing and community outreach manager for the Council on Aging of Martin County. She brings more than 15 years of marketing and communications experience across higher education, health care and nonprofit sectors.

Ren Mullinix

Mullinix is CEO of ClareMedica Health Partners, a Florida-based value-based health care company serving Medicare Advantage, fee-for-service Medicare and Medicaid patients through a network of employed and affiliated physicians. He previously served as ClareMedica’s chief operating officer, and earlier held leadership roles at Southwestern Health Resources and Navigant, where he led value-based care growth and transformation initiatives.

Sam Muminov

Muminov is president and CEO of Better Life Medical & Surgical Supply, a statewide durable medical equipment company supporting more than 10,000 patients across Florida with mobility equipment, respiratory equipment, wound care and other medical supplies. A longtime supporter of the Association’s mission, he has helped provide $48,000 in contributions toward the Sunshine Gala and Walk to End Alzheimer’s, and served on the Sunshine Gala committee, helping raise nearly $10,000 more.

Elena Newman

Newman is executive vice president, Medicare Advantage, at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, where she leads the company’s individual and national group Medicare Advantage businesses. She previously served as president, Florida Government Business, at Elevance Health, overseeing Medicare Advantage and managed Medicaid operations for more than 850,000 members across Florida. She holds a master’s degree in global economics and is a Chartered Global Management Accountant.

Dr. Naushira Pandya

Dr. Pandya is professor and chair of the Department of Geriatrics at Nova Southeastern University’s Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine, where she also serves as project director of the Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program and director of the university’s Geriatrics Medicine Clinic. An internationally recognized authority on diabetes management in older adults and long-term care medicine, she is a past president of PALTmed and a fellow of the American College of Physicians.
